STUDENT LIFE

  • College Life at DBS

Because college life is so much more than exams, coursework and lectures, DBS offers students and staff the chance to get involved in a variety of Sports and Societies. Sign-Up for these takes place during Freshers week – don’t miss out. One of the most attractive features of DBS as a place to study is its location in Dublin city centre. We are surrounded by the best clubs and bars in the country so you can be sure of easy access to the best social nights in the city. Along with all that’s happening in the city centre, your Student Services team organises exclusive nights throughout the year – often in conjunction with our students in aid of local charities. Whatever it is you are looking for in your experience we are here to help with whatever questions you may have – our door is always open.

  • Student Services Department

As students are the primary focus of the College it is only appropriate that they should have their own department. The Student Services Department caters exclusively for students needs. The welfare of each student is of the utmost importance in DBS. Student Services offers advice and support to all students of the College. Be it accommodation, financial, J1 visa advice or study problems, the Student Services Department is on hand to offer information and advice. The work/life balance is something that we regard as important, academia should be integrated with a stimulating social scene. We offer a variety of support from personal advice to organising sports teams, but the emphasis is ultimately on empowering the student and facilitating development. Obviously the department is a pivotal interface between staff and students. It provides a forum for student input into academic and administrative matters as well as providing a channel for information to be passed on to students. Finally, Student Services provides a public face for the College both to students and those outside the College.

  • Career Focused Education

A degree from DBS will set you up for your future career. In addition to the high level academic and practical knowledge and experience students will receive from our faculty, students can also avail of work placements and internships enabling you to obtain real world experience throughout your course of study and be equipped with competitive advantage upon graduation. All programmes are developed in collaboration with industry which allows subject offerings to reflect opportunities emerging in cutting edge industries such as digital media and cloud computing. You will have the support of our careers service throughout your study and beyond. We can help you make informed decisions about your future career and give information and advice on a range of career related issues.

Open Evenings

We will help you to develop your abilities and broaden your experience so you leave your course ready for your chosen career.  We help hundreds of students find relevant work placements while at college and offer a dedicated service to support you in preparing for your career.

DBS Open Evening

Whatever your interests you will find like-minded people at DBS and if a society for you doesn't already exist, why not make one? The best way to meet new people and engage in an activity of interest to you is to join or start a society.  Sport and physical activity is also big part of college  life for many of our students, and after choosing which degree you want to study, picking which sports team you want to play for may well be the next big decision!

One of the department’s main roles is the facilitation of personal and academic development. In DBS we take a holistic view to college life.
