Zoe McHugh is a recent graduate of the Bachelor of Business in Retail Management at DBS which includes a work placement in Lidl. She is now a Junior Project Manager in Lidl's Head Office in Tallaght. Below are her views on her time spent in DBS.
What did you feel was the best thing about studying in DBS?
The best thing about studying in DBS was the lecturers and the course content. There was always someone there to provide support and guidance for whatever issue arose. This really helped me over the past 3 years on the retail management degree programme. Knowing that there was always someone there to turn to was a great comfort.
How did you enjoy the course?
I thoroughly enjoyed my time on the retail management degree programme. The course is split between college and then work placement in Lidl. This meant I was fortunate enough to graduate with both a degree and invaluable managerial experience, which in today's dynamic job market is an advantage. The course content was really interesting and varied as we studied all aspects of retail and management. Lectures were interactive and always incorporated a practical element to them, which I found kept my interest. The past 3 years have thought me a lot and I feel ready and confident to step into the work place knowing that I have gained a good foundation in DBS.
What did you think of college life in DBS?
College life in DBS was great. It's such a friendly and comfortable learning environment. There was always an event on as well so there was always something to do after lectures! The friends I have made are also one of the best things that has come out of my time in DBS.
What you have done since/ what do you hope to do career-wise and how do you think your degree will benefit you?
I now work for Lidl in their new head office in Tallaght. I am a Junior Project Manager in the Learning and Development department. This is a role that I have always been interested in and have been actively working towards. I feel that the knowledge and experience I gained in DBS has helped me secure this role and has also prepared me for the working world.
