Overview

The Higher Diploma in Science in Digital Marketing is a conversion programme designed for graduates seeking to acquire essential digital marketing skills. Participants will receive practical training in key digital skills, including Digital Marketing Management and Communications, Digital Storytelling, and more. The programme emphasises developing knowledge, skills, and competencies relevant to the digital marketing profession. Communication and teamwork skills are fostered, and real-world issues in digital marketing are analysed. The programme is delivered flexibly, incorporating lectures, workshops, group work, blended learning, and guest speakers. Graduates will be equipped to evaluate digital marketing opportunities and challenges and integrate them into organisational decision-making. The programme also prepares graduates for further postgraduate studies.


Objectives 

The programme objectives of the Higher Diploma in Science in Digital Marketing are: 

  • Provide an academically rigorous framework through which students can develop an awareness of current problems and new insights in the digital marketing function to expand their knowledge of digital marketing.

  • Develop systematic detailed knowledge, experience, and understanding of digital content curation for digital marketing in a modern organisation.

  • Develop learners’ knowledge and ability to apply and use integrated digital marketing communications, particularly within campaigns, with the intention of using this knowledge creatively in the delivery of digital marketing strategies.

  • Demonstrate knowledge of marketing technologies and tools and their role in marketing strategies.

  • Develop an in-depth appreciation of modern data-driven metrics for marketing activities and the knowledge to use them to drive an organisation’s e-business programme.

  • Provide learners with the tools to explore web analytics and understand campaign metrics.

  • Apply advanced research skills, constructively criticise, draw conclusions, and offer recommendations within the marketing environment.

This programme is delivered through both online and face-to-face modes of delivery.


Minimum Entry Requirements

To be eligible for the Higher Diploma in Science in Digital Marketing programme, applicants typically need to meet the following minimum entry requirements:

  • A Level 8 honours bachelor’s degree in a non-cognate area with a minimum pass classification.

  • A Level 7 ordinary bachelor’s degree in a cognate area (such as marketing).

Applicants without a Level 7 or 8 qualification but with at least 3 years of relevant work experience may be considered through the college’s RPL procedures. All applicants must have a minimum of ordinary-level Leaving Certificate maths or demonstrate equivalent competency in maths.

Teaching and Assessment

The curriculum of the Higher Diploma in Science in Digital Marketing programme is designed to provide a mix of theoretical knowledge and practical application, ensuring that graduates are well-prepared for the demands of the modern marketing environment.
