Microsoft Office 2007 Master certification specifically targets workplace demands for 2007 Office application and system skills. Companies can validate and maximise the value of their 2007 Microsoft Office upgrade by hiring certified individuals and getting their existing workforce certified. When you become a Microsoft Office 2007 Master, you are qualified to use the full features of the 2007 Office system, making you valuable to companies who want to reinforce their technology investment with accelerated productivity and improved organisational performance.

 

 

Programme Aims and Objectives

 

The aim of this programme is to increase productivity through the utilisation of Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook, with greater efficiency. The Microsoft Master Qualification is the official certification of Microsoft Office desktop applications. The Office 2007 Master consists of four modules which constitute the main software tools used in business today.

 

 

Programme Structure

 

The programme will be delivered through lecture and demonstration. The latest version of Office 2007 will be used along with GMetrixs – the practice exam software, before students sit their final online exam per module, where they will receive the results immediately after sitting the exam.

 

 

Programme Content

 

MS Word (7 weeks)
This module is suited to existing users of MS Word. Good keyboarding skills are required. The course starts by refreshing users on the fundamental features of Word but advances quickly to include Formatting Paragraphs, Apply Styles, Adding Tables, Inserting Graphic Objects, Controlling Page Appearance, Proofing a Document, Managing Lists, Customising Tables and Charts, Customising Formatting with Styles & Themes, Modifying Pictures, Creating Customised Graphic Elements, Inserting Content Using Quick Parts, Controlling Text Flow, Using Templates to Automate Document Creation, Automating Mail Merges, Using Macros, Using Word 2007 with Other Programs, Collaborating on Documents, Managing Document Versions, Adding Reference Marks and Notes, Making Long Documents Easier to Use, Securing a Document.

 

MS Excel (7 weeks)
This module is suited to existing users of MS Excel. The course starts by refreshing users on the fundamental features of Excel but advances quickly to include Performing Calculations, Modifying a Worksheet, Formatting a Worksheet, Printing Workbook Contents, Managing Large Workbooks, Calculating Data with Advanced Formulas, Manage Cell and Range Names, Organising Worksheets and Table Data, Presenting Data Using Charts, Analysing Data Using PivotTables and Pivot Charts, Inserting Graphic Objects, Customising & Enhancing Workbooks, Create a Macro, Add Data Validation Criteria, Collaborating with Others, Auditing Worksheets, Analysing Data, Working with Multiple Workbooks, Importing and Exporting Data, Using Excel with the Web.

MS PowerPoint (5 weeks)
This module is suited to users of applications like Word or Excel who wish to learn presentation skills using the features of PowerPoint to create and deliver effective professional presentations. The course starts by refreshing users on the fundamental features of PowerPoint but advances quickly to include detailed coverage of advanced features of MS PowerPoint: Templates, Layouts, Tables, Charts, SmartArt, Diagrams, Animation, Transitions, Slide managers, Formatting, Inserting Objects, Graphics, Sound, Movies, Collaborating, Managing and Delivering Presentations, Timing, Publishing, Printing Slides, Outlines, Handouts and Speaker Notes.

 

MS Outlook (5 weeks)
This module will provide you with the skills you need to start sending and responding to email, as well as maintaining your Calendar, scheduling meetings, and working with tasks and notes. In this module, you will cover the following areas: Getting Started with Outlook, Composing messages, Organising Messages, Managing Contacts, Scheduling Appointments, Scheduling Meetings, Managing Tasks and Notes, Setting Calendar Options, Customising Message Options, Managing Tasks, Sharing Folder Information, Customising the Outlook Environment, Locating Outlook Items, Working with Public Folders, Create a Public Folder, Personalising Your Email, Managing Outlook Data Files, Working with Contacts, Saving and Archiving Email, Publishing Calendar Information to Office Online.

 

 

Assessment

 

To be awarded the Microsoft Office 2007 Master, students will be required to complete all four module exams (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook). Each module will be examined on completion. Participants may also complete modules individually for which they will receive a Microsoft and DBS certificate in the relevant application.

More than a single certification, the Microsoft Office 2007 Master credential demonstrates your mastery and expertise of Microsoft Office programmes. As a Microsoft Office 2007 Master, you’ll have more than a working familiarity with Office programmes – you’ll have the technical skills to efficiently use the breadth of the programmes’ features.

 

 

Further Study Options

 

On successful completion of the Microsoft Office 2007 Master students who wish to complete an IT teaching qualification can progress onto the EDI/JEB Teacher’s Diploma in Information Technology at DBS.
