English Language Requirements
At DBS we are committed to your academic and professional success. Because all our courses are delivered entirely through English, a high level of proficiency is essential in engaging with course materials and participating in campus life. International applicants whose first language is not English must provide evidence of proficiency in English language equivalent to B2+ or above on the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFRL). This must be evidenced through a recognized English Language test. Below you will find a breakdown of the accepted English language tests and the minimum scores required for entry. If you have previously studied through English, you may be eligible for a waiver (depending on whether you are coming from a visa required country), please contact the Admissions Office regarding any queries you might have – admissions@dbs.ie
Currency of results:
For all proficiency tests the results must be dated within two years of course commencement.
* There may be additional requirements for some visa required countries
Kaplan Test of English (KTE)
For applicants who do not require a study visa (Irish and EU-based students), DBS offers an English language proficiency test free of charge. Delivered online in partnership with Kaplan, this test is available to students who have already submitted an academic application and meet the initial entry criteria. Once the academic eligibility is confirmed, DBS will coordinate the booking. Applicants will receive an email from the Kaplan team with full access instructions. To provide maximum flexibility, applicants have 72 hours to complete the test, ensuring they can choose a time that works best for them. The passing score required is equivalent to CEFRL B2+.
