Diploma in Sustainability Management in Business

Professional in Diploma Sustainable Business Strategy and ESG Management

The United Nations define sustainability as “meeting the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs”. In the last decades, the concepts of sustainable development and sustainability in business have become dominant in the political agenda both at national and international level and have a growing impact on the consumer behaviours. In this programme, learners will explore the concept of sustainability and its relationship to business and examine the issues related to sustainability management in a local and global context. This diploma will explain how sustainability management can be integrated into business operations and introduce students to diverse ways in which businesses can promote and implement sustainability and environmentally-conscious policies in the workplace. This programme will also review the support available to companies in Ireland for the development and implementation of ‘Green Business’ strategies.

Real World Application

One key area of emphasis within this programme is the application of sustainability management. As such, throughout this 12 week programme, the learner will be applying various concepts to real or hypothetical scenarios within organisations such as:

● The development of sustainability policies and action plans targeting SMEs and company departments.
● ESG risk assessments or assessments on the circular economy supply chain.
● Identifying sustainable financing opportunities with the aid of Irish and European funding structures (SEAI and Enterprise Ireland).
● Development of sustainability communication campaigns and internal engagement activities.

The assignments are designed to motivate the students to use authentic data and parameters (like GRI Guidelines and LCA templates), and there will be clear linkage between learning outcomes and workplace requirements.

The learners will also be able to study case examples of organisations such as Unilever, IKEA, Patagonia, and SMEs in Ireland and the EU pursuing sustainability initiatives.

As a result, the applied learning method ensures that the graduates of the programme are immediately useful to the management of sustainability, consultancy work, and implementation projects.
Guest Speakers and Workshops

To connect learning with expertise, the programme will feature speakers and workshops with experts in the field of sustainability. The list of guest contributors may include:

● Corporate sustainability officers from prominent Irish and European companies.
● Representatives from Enterprise Ireland or SEAI on funding and green innovation.
● Environmental consultants, ESG analysts, and policy advisors.
● Leaders in technology and innovation in digital sustainability, renewable energy, and circular design.

These sessions are intended to enable learners to gain insight into the various challenges and innovations taking place in the industry today. The workshops will be problem-based and interactive to enable the learners to use the expert opinions to solve challenges presented in case studies.
