Sharon Sheehan

Sharon Sheehan [BA (Law and Spanish), G.Dip Business Administration] is a senior law lecturer employed at Dublin Business School since 1997.  She has been employed as a subject specialist in law and a programme leader for the BA in Legal Studies and has significant experience in the design, delivery and accreditation of programmes for QQI. Amongst her other teaching, Sharon teaches the Corporate and Business Law for the ACCA and her students have been placed first, second and third in Ireland in previous exam diets, as well as achieving worldwide placements.  Her students have consistently achieved pass rates in excess of the average pass rates achieved by ACCA students, and her classes have consistently achieved a pass rate in excess of 90% in exam diets.

Sharon is also the examiner for Chartered Accountants Ireland – Law for Accountants paper, Accounting Technicians Ireland – Law and Ethics paper, and Certified Public Accountants Ireland – Corporate Laws and Governance paper.   She has also edited and updated preparatory manuals for these accounting bodies.  She teaches at Master’s level in Employment Law with the IPA and has written an employment law manual for this institute. More recently she has delivered on their Professional Diploma in Human and Industrial Relations, for senior civil servants through the IPA. Furthermore, she has provided technical proof on Chartered Accountants textbooks such as A Guide to Being a Company Director, and An Introduction to Business Law.  She also delivers bespoke CPD programmes for ACCA Ireland, webinars for CPA Ireland, and has published a variety of articles for CPA Ireland, focusing on both company law and employment law issues. Furthermore, she accepted the role of examiner in a joint venture between CPA Ireland and ACCA Ireland in the preparation and examination of eligible persons to be qualified as Personal Insolvency Practitioners. 

She has also worked for two years in legal practice and Sharon applies her industry knowledge of the law to her delivery of the ACCA paper to encourage a common sense and practical approach to law by her students

Any Additional Information

I have held the position of Senior Lecturer at DBS for the last eleven years, following three years in DCU employed as a Teaching Assistant. During this time I have built up considerable lecturing experience delivering a wide range of programmes to undergraduate, postgraduate and professional ACCA students. I currently lecture in the areas of Company Law, Contract Law, Employment Law and Media Law.  

I have been teaching ACCA Paper F4 since 2004. 
When lecturing I apply my industry knowledge of the law to my delivery of this paper to encourage a common sense and practical approach to law by students. 
Since delivering this paper, my students have achieved 15 placings at 1st, 2nd and 3rd in Ireland.
