Spotlight on: Colin O’Keeffe, MSc in Information and Library Management Graduate

Colin O’Keeffe is a former student of the MSc in Information and Library Management. The level 9, Postgraduate course includes a three week work placement and provides students with the applied professional knowledge and competencies required of a manager within the information and library sector.

Colin, now working in DBS, says, he “would recommend this course to those currently working in libraries and those wishing to enter the profession.”

Colin states that the course takes in to consideration the changing nature of librarianship and information management and provides students with the skills to manage information in the 21st Century.

Small class sizes in DBS allow students to interact more readily with lecturers; and, as with most DBS courses, many of the lecturers are practitioners in their field which gives students an insight into real world situations.

Colin says that “the course also provided me with the opportunity to complete an individual thesis on an LIS topic of my choice, which greatly enhanced my research skills and understanding of challenges and developments in this area.”
