Fresher’s Week at DBS took place in the first week of October, and our new batch of students were treated to a variety of activities throughout the week to ensure they settled in, got to know each other, and most importantly had fun! At DBS our Student Experience Team are dedicated to making sure each college year is bigger and better than the last, and this year was no exception.
To kick off the week we had free ice-cream in the common room, and an in house movie night. Tuesday was Clubs & Socs day, which saw a great turn out of students who wanted to find out more about the different clubs and societies on offer and sign up to the ones that interested them most. If you missed this event, you can still sign up here.
On Wednesday our students went on a bowling trip to Leisureplex. There was also a Life Skills Programme held that day, and we had a few companies on site including FlyeFit and Capital Credit Union.
Thursday saw our students take on the Iron Stomach Challenge, as they ate their weight in Boojum burritos to see who would come out champion (well done to John Croker who walked away with the title!). This was followed by a Peer Mentor Workshop.
The week ended on a high with the much-anticipated Mystery Bus Tour which brought our students to a few locations, and finished up in Mullingar.
All in all it was a great week and we look forward to what’s to come.
