DBS and voicesonfilm were delighted to host the legendary feminist film theorist and filmmaker Professor Laura Mulvey as she presented a keynote paper entitled ‘Remixing Hollywood movies of the 1950s: from textual analysis to digital spectatorship.’

Following her scintillating paper, Professor Mulvey joined Professor Rod Stoneman and DBS’s very own Dr Barnaby Taylor in conversation.

The event was well attended and very well received. As Dr Barnaby Taylor said after the event:
‘This was a once in a lifetime opportunity to spend time in the presence of one of the most significant and influential theorists to have ever written about the cinema. As a result of her outstanding scholarship, Professor Mulvey has inspired and empowered a new generation of feminist film writers and filmmakers and her work is as relevant today as it has ever been. It was a very real privilege to spend time with her.’
