The study of Psychology looks to understand the human mind; how we think, behave, interact, feel and relate to the world around us. In order to grasp the subject to any degree one must undertake a substantial amount of reading and research, and curiosity is really the driving factor if you want to enjoy working in this field. If you have the motivation, passion and interest to learn about what makes human beings tick, then the Diploma in Psychology at DBS is a great starting point for anyone.
The Diploma in Psychology is a one year part-time course, which allows learners to complete three core modules within the BA (Hons) in Psychology degree in DBS. These are; Psychological Foundations, Foundations in Social Psychology, and Developmental Psychology. Upon completion of the year, students can choose to either exit the programme with a Diploma qualification or continue as a part-time psychology learner.
Jennifer Brennan undertook the Diploma in Psychology at DBS. Here’s what she had to say about her experience…
“I chose psychology as I have always found human and animal behaviour fascinating. I love to learn and this course seemed to be the right fit.
The course has benefited me professionally as I am an instructor; I need to be able to create the correct atmosphere in order to facilitate learning. I am more in tune to the behaviour of the students and I can create more motivation and class participation. Personally, this course empowered me to be able to deal with a very difficult time in my life. It gave me control and allowed me to understand my process.
I really enjoyed this course, I had to travel two hours to the college and two hours home again but I would do it all over again. The teacher was fun and passionate about the course, he made it interesting by allowing us to interact and debate. It made us just as passionate to learn. The best thing about DBS is the access to the library, which was needed for resources. DBS truly pick people that are passionate about what they teach.”
With a Psychology qualification you can find work in a variety of sectors such as social services, caring professions, legal areas, the public sector, nursing and more. Many business and management professionals also find aspects of the course useful.
