Spotlight On: The Springboard+ Cert in Cloud Platform Development

Fiona Redmond is a Computer Science Lecturer and Programme Leader at DBS. Fiona teaches across a number of different topics to students in Springboard+, Undergraduate, Higher Diploma and MSc programmes. We caught up with her to find out more about the Springboard+ Certificate in Cloud Platform Development.

Who is the Cert in Cloud Platform Development aimed at?

This programme is aimed at learners interested in being fast tracked to designing and developing applications that run on cloud based platforms (e.g. Google App Engine, Microsoft Azure etc.).

What prior knowledge is needed to undertake this course?

No prior knowledge of programming or web development is necessary, but any technical know-how would be beneficial.

What can students expect to learn throughout the duration of the course?

Learners will be guided through the basics of designing and coding interactive web applications that run on various devices (mobile, tablet, laptop). Learners will also gain hands on experience in integrating frontend web development with backend web technologies and databases. A selection of languages will be covered (depending on demand) from the following list: HTML, CSS, JavaScript, PHP, Python, Ruby and C#.
