DBS recently held a breakfast briefing on Fintech in our Aungier Street campus. The briefing was arranged with the intention of gaining insight into the rapidly growing industry of Fintech, which describes the technologies used and applied in the financial services sector.
Present on the day were guest speakers Alan Meaney (of Fund Recs) and Barry McCarthy (of Assure Hedge), members of the public who work in or are involved in the industry, and DBS staff. Attendees also listened to a panel discussion around the topic ‘The skills and attributes graduates require for the technological change’s impacting the financial services industry’.
Finance lecturer at DBS, Andrew Quinn, had the following to say about the event:
"The Fintech Breakfast Briefing was a very informative networking event. The two guest speakers - Barry McCarthy (Assure Hedge) & Alan Meaney (Fund Recs) - addressed two very different spheres of the broad Fintech universe, and participated in an excellent discussion regarding the skills and attributes the Financial Services Industry is looking for in a new generation of graduates. DBS will host the next in a series of Breakfast Briefings in early September."
