Dublin Business School is proud to announce that Patrick Scott, a student on the Higher Certificate in Marketing has been awarded Marketing Network Marketing Student of the Year for 2011. In addition to the prestige of such a title (the competition was open to all final year undergraduate and postgraduate students in Ireland) Patrick has also secured a 3-month paid work experience at Marketing Network. His winning submission, ‘iCert Mobile Learning’ is a learning support app for students across second and third level which is currently in the development stages. Hailed by one of the judges as ‘the next Mark Zuckerberg’ Patrick has also been awarded a scholarship by the College to complete his degree.

Marketing Network (a Dublin based integrated services company) initiated the Marketing Student of the Year Award programme in 1999 to identify and reward promising young Marketing talent. The programme has become an unmitigated success as many past winners have gone on to become leading professionals in their field. This year DBS students represented three of the five shortlisted entries from more than 100 submissions from marketing students across the country.

  • Yvonne Thunder & Andrew Cosgrave, BA (Hons) Marketing with Event Management, (Runners up) presented a paper on a regeneration project for New market in Dublin

  • Michelle Jones, BA (Hons) Marketing with Event Management, (Runner up) devised a market entry strategy for the Guinness Storehouse into the Japanese market

  • Patrick Scott, Higher Certificate in Marketing (Winner) presented the development plan of ‘iCert Mobile Learning’, a learning support app for students across second and third level education.

The five finalists were notified last month and were asked to present to a panel of leading marketing experts this week who judged the submissions in terms of strategic understanding and market analysis, creativity and personal expression as well as the organisation of the written presentation. Well done again to our talented students!
