DBS Lecturer's New Book Reviewed in The Guardian

DBS Photography lecturer Dragana Jurisic has published a new book, YU: The Lost Country. The photobook is the result of a three-year long project, and is an elegy for the vanished Yugoslavia of her youth. The Guardian newspaper has published an overwhelmingly positive review of the new book, which can be seen here.

Dragana Jurisic has been lecturing in DBS since 2009, and she works predominantly through the medium of photography, film and installation. Her practice explores the issues of gender, stereotyping and the effects of exile and displacement on memory and identity. Since receiving a distinction for her MFA in 2008, Dragana has won a significant number of awards including Dorothea Lange and Paul Taylor Award’s Special Recognition from Duke University. In 2013, Dragana completed her PhD and completed her new project, 'YU: The Lost Country' which culminated in a critically acclaimed touring exhibition and the book mentioned above. Her work is in many collections including the Irish State Art Collection.
