DBS Fresher’s Week Review

Semester one got off to a flying start this year, thanks to the work put in by the Student Services team in organising a fun packed Fresher’s Week for new students to get to know their peers.

It all kicked off on the Monday morning in our Aungier Street campus, with free pizza, goody bags and a win your own height in pizza competition from Domino’s. Later on that night there was the first social event of the year in D2 nightclub on Harcourt Street.

Tuesday was Clubs & Socs sign-up day in Castle House, where hundreds of students put their names down for all sorts of activity groups. We were visited once more by Domino’s Pizza, and Spin1038. As well as that some students headed for an energetic day out on the trampolines in JumpZone in Santry.

Wednesday saw the students going on a watersports trip in SurfDock, Grand Canal, where they took part in kayaking and stand up paddle boarding among other things. Afterwards there was a tasty lunch in the nearby Basil Pizza.

On Thursday our adventurous students trekked up Howth Head and the week was topped off with a weekend of surfing in Bundoran. A brilliantly fun way to finish off a successful Fresher's Week, and to start a new year in DBS.

We like to provide something for everyone in DBS, so if there was something missing that you would like to get involved in or think would be a good addition to the college – you can get in touch with our Student Services Officer Adam Crowther on [email protected] or call in to see the team in Castle House.
