The DBS Futsal team recently competed in the Dublin Regional Futsal Tournament which was organised by the FAI and held in NUI Maynooth. The team consisted of a mixture of students from Ireland, Spain and Brazil.
The tournament was close from the get-go, and started with DBS playing a great match against DIT, which finished 1-1. They then played Inchicore College of Further Education, where DBS dominated from the beginning and won 4-1. The next game was a challenging one against the tournament hosts NUIM. Once again they played exceptionally well and won 3-1. The last fixture was against IT Blanchardstown. It was a crucial game as DIT finished the league with 10 points and going into the last game DBS had 7 points and ITB had 6, so the teams were facing off with a place in the final at stake. DBS held out for a 1-1 draw to set up a final which was a repeat of the first fixture against DIT.
The final was a brilliant match, and DBS came out on top with a 4-1 victory over DIT. DBS will now represent Dublin at the National Finals after Christmas, and the winners of that tournament will go to Poland to represent Ireland at an International Colleges Tournament.
