DBS took part in the National Futsal Finals in IT Sligo in January. This followed on from the team winning the Regional Finals in November. The team got through the group stages and then beat IT Sligo in the quarter finals and Cork IT in the semi-final to line up a final match against Waterford IT.
The game was fought long and hard, with plenty of heroic saves from DBS goalkeeper Rodrigo Teixeira Aguair. At the end of full time after a patient and tactical performance from WIT and a passionate exciting counter-attacking performance from DBS both teams remained scoreless. The game would be decided by penalties.
The penalty shoot out was a tense affair, and when at one stage it looked as though nobody was going to miss, the WIT keeper made a solid save, leaving them to convert for the win. They did, and so Waterford IT claimed a 7-6 victory on penalties to become National Champions. Commiserations to our team who played their part in a fantastic final.
A special well done to Rodrigo Teixeira Aguair the DBS goalkeeper who claimed the Man of the Match award after a string of fantastic saves throughout the whole tournament.
