The LL.B (Hons) in Irish Law is accredited by the Honorable Society of King's Inns for the purpose of eligibility to sit the entrance exams for the Barrister-at-Law degree programme.

The most recent lecture in the third series of free ‘Law & Practice’ public lectures was given by Dorothea Dowling on Thursday 1st March 2012, entitled "The Work of the Personal Injuries Assessment Board”. Dorothea Dowling is probably best known as former Chair of the Motor Insurance Advisory Board the 2002 report from which underpinned the Government's successful Insurance Reform Programme, one element of which was establishment of the Personal Injuries Assessment Board of which she is non-executive Chairperson.

The acquisition of Portobello College in 2007 allowed DBS to incorporate a Law  School with a longstanding reputation. The Law School at Portobello College was established in 1991 and delivered a range of Law programmes at undergraduate and postgraduate level on a full and part time basis. DBS is now Ireland’s largest independent third level institution with a student population of more than 9,000 and the potential to deliver approximately 100 accredited programmes at both undergraduate and postgraduate level.
