Adrian has held a senior lecturing position with DBS since 1995. During this time he has built up a considerable reputation for his style of delivery on ACCA programmes.
Adrian has lectured on F5 and P5 (and the equivalent papers in previous streams) for over 10 years. This experience gives Adrian a detailed knowledge of paper syllabus, examiners style and articles and previous exam papers. Added to this, Adrian’s exam and student focused approach has made him a very popular lecturer. His lectures are structured to maximise syllabus coverage, practice past exam questions and focus on any past examiner articles in the topic area. Adrian also places great emphasis on practicing exam technique and time management which are critical components of exam success.

AIMS AND OBJECTIVES

 

To develop knowledge and skills in the application of management accounting techniques to quantitative and qualitative information for planning, decision-making, performance evaluation, and control.

 

On successful completion of this paper candidates should be able to:

 

  • Explain, apply, and evaluate cost accounting techniques
  • Select and appropriately apply decision-making techniques to evaluate business choices and promote efficient and effective use of scarce business resources, appreciating the risks and uncertainty inherent in business and controlling those risks
  • Apply budgeting techniques and evaluate alternative methods of budgeting, planning and control
  • Use standard costing systems to measure and control business performance and to identify remedial action
  • Assess the performance of a business from both a financial and non-financial viewpoint, appreciating the problems of controlling divisionalised businesses and the importance of allowing for external aspects.
