Dublin Business School is delighted to announce a multi-million euro expansion plan with the acquisition of new premises at Castle House, South Great Georges St, Dublin 2. The new 35,000 sq ft premises, opening for the academic year 2010/2011 will provide students with enhanced classroom and computer lab facilities, library and student recreation areas.

'Law & Practice' Public Lecture Series

Dublin Business School ran a series of  public lectures from January  to March 2010. The series was entitled ‘Law & Practice’  and featured lectures on topics including 'Future of EU – China Trade: A Regulatory Perspective', 'New Solicitors Training Contracts & Work Based Learning', 'The Purpose of Judicial Review and the Grounds on which it may be Granted' and Recent Developments in Insolvency Law'. The lectures were delivered by  high profile professionals and specialist lecturers in their respective  fields including Professor James Kirkbride from Liverpool John Moores University and Giles Proctor, Head of Kaplan Law School.

The Higher Education and Training Awards Council (HETAC) validated the following new programmes for 2010 at events held recently in the College:

 

  • BA (Hons) in Arts (Level 8) with specialisms in, Literature & Drama, Film Studies, Social Science, Psychology/ Psychoanalysis, Media & Cultural Studies, History, Politics & Economics
  • BA in Journalism and Media (Level 7)
  • Special Purpose Award, Certificate in Skills for Work-Life (DBS Advantage) (Level 6)

DBS Film Students Get Creative
 DBS Film

The BA (Hons) Film Studies students held a successful end of year photography exhibition in Anseo on Camden Street entitled ‘Gravitational Forces Have Nothing on Me’ which showcased work completed as part of their assessment and also their own personal portfolios.  

These creative students also organised the first DBS Cult Film Festival which will now be an annual event in the College.

Lisa Collins and Nicole Gallagher who both graduated with a BA (Hons) Business Studies photographed here at one of the recent  DBS Graduation Ceremonies held  in the RDS, Dublin. Graduates were conferred in programmes awarded by the Higher Education Training & Awards Council (HETAC), Liverpool John Moores University (LJMU), University of Wales and the Institute of Commercial Management (ICM).

Congratulations to Padraig Harrington

In November 2006, Dublin Business School was delighted to confer one of it's former students, international golfer Padraig Harrington with an Honorary Fellowship in its inaugeral fellowship ceremony held in the RDS, Dublin. The former DBS student, has been one of Ireland's leading sportsmen over the past decade and at the ceremony he paid tribute to DBS. 'Thank you to Dublin Business School who showed great foresight in providing me with a scholorship opportunity to continue with my studies while still being an amateur player. It is great to see that the College's success has mirrored mine since then.'

DBS Men's Basketball Team - Dublin League Champions




Congratulations to the DBS men's team who took home the division three Colleges Basketball League title on Thursday the 4th of March. Team DBS beat National College of Ireland in the final on an impressive scoreline of 81-60.

The reputation of Irish Accountancy students on the international accountancy scene has increased  with the announcement that 23 ACCA and CIMA students at Dublin Business School have been placed in the top 20 worldwide.When one considers that at the ACCA May 2009 examination sitting 187,000 students sat the examination on a worldwide basis, the above achievements by DBS students represents outstanding academic performance.

BA (Hons) Marketing with Event Management Students 'Learn and Earn' for their Chosen Charity

The third year BA (Hons) Marketing with Event Management have raised over €10,000 for the Make-a-Wish® Foundation by organising and hosting 7 different events this year including a ‘Madhatter Comedy Night’, ‘Homegrown Dance Night’ and an Italian-themed night in Howl at the Moon which was attended by over 700 people. Each class was divided into 2-3 groups. An Event Company was formed for each group and roles were delegated as per industry, while lecturers interviewed for the positions of CEO, Financial Controller etc.

DBS Fashion Show 2009 raises over €4K for Irish Cancer Society

Tripod on Dublin's Harcourt Street was the venue for the 2009 DBS Fashion Show. Student models strutted their stuff in aid of the Irish Cancer Society, wearing clothes sponsored by top brands including G-Star, Berska, Fran & Jane, Lacoste and Hugo Boss. Brian Maher from Spin 103.8's Zoo Crew was Master of Ceremonies on the night and the Asolo Academy of Dance opened the New York-themed show with a blend of urban and hip-hop dance.
