| Marketing Students Challenge |  | | DBS Marketing students participated in a project which saw groups compete with each other to address and provide innovative marketing solutions to marketing challenges faced by real companies. The companies involved in turn gave feedback on the value of the students’ ideas to their businesses. Some of the recommendations outlined in the projects have since been put forward for application to their marketing strategies going forward including the development of a recycling iPhone ‘app’ for Repak who fund packaging recycling. | The Trendence Graduate Barometer 2010 | The Trendence Graduate Barometer is an independent survey conducted annually by trendence, a part of the GTI Group. The survey looks at graduates' preferences and priorities when selecting a first employer after graduation and examines their strategies when looking for information about potential employers. The graduates are asked to select the career sectors they are interested in entering and the organisations they consider to be attractive first employers, as well as answering a range of questions on their approach and attitudes to the job search, communication and information-gathering habits, academic achievements, experience and skills.
The survey was conducted in 24 higher education institutions across Ireland, with 5,608 students responding. In the most recent survey, the DBS Careers and Appointment Service has scored above the national average for careers services in 12 out of 15 categories which illustrates the dedication and commitment of the College staff to student and graduate employability. The Graduate Barometer continues to provide an authoritative and illuminating picture of Irish students’ and graduates’ preferences and perceptions with regard to career issues.
