Recent Validations and Programmatic Review


The Higher Education and Training Awards Council (HETAC) validated the following new programmes for 2010 at events held recently in the College:

 

  • BA (Hons) in Arts (Level 8) with specialisms in, Literature & Drama, Film Studies, Social Science, Psychology/ Psychoanalysis, Media & Cultural Studies, History, Politics & Economics
  • BA in Journalism and Media (Level 7)

  • Special Purpose Award, Certificate in Skills for Work-Life (DBS Advantage) (Level 6)

     

    The following programmes were also successfully re-accredited following a series of programmatic review events:

     

    • BA (Hons) in Social Science (Level 8) - incorporating Certificate in Social Science and Higher Certificate in Social Science
    • BA (Hons) Psychology (Level 8) - incorporating Certificate in Psychology and Higher Certificate in Psychology
    • BA in Social Studies (Level 7) - incorporating Certificate in Social Studies and Higher Certificate in Social Studies
    • BA (Hons) in Media and Cultural Studies (Level 8)
      Certificate in Humanities in Cultural Studies (Level 6)
    • BA (Hons) in Film, Literature and Drama (Level 8) - incorporating Certificate in Film, Literature and Drama and Higher Certificate in Film, Literature and Drama
    • BA (Hons) in Journalism (Level 8) incorporating Certificate in Journalism and Higher Certificate in Journalism
    • BA in Film and Media (Level 7) - incorporating Certificate in Film and Media and Higher Certificate in Film and Media
    • Bachelor of Business (Level 7)
    • Bachelor of Business in Accounting (Level 7)
    • Bachelor of Business in Marketing (Level 7)
    • Bachelor of Business in Information Technology (Level 7)

       

      The LL.B. (Hons) in Irish Law degree accredited by the University of Wales and the Higher Education and Training Awards Council (HETAC) was also successfully re-validated for a period of 5 years following the completion of the Quinquennial Review process which took place in May 2010. The programme was re-approved without conditions and DBS received a number of commendations from the Review Panel.

       

      This outcome is a testament to the knowledge, excellence, hard work and dedication of our academic community here in DBS.
