- The MSc in Information & Library Management is accredited by the Chartered Institute of Library & Information Professionals (CILIP), the leading professional body for librarians, information specialists and knowledge managers. CILIP forms a community of approximately 36,000 people engaged in library and information work, of whom approximately 21,000 are CILIP members and about 15,000 are regular customers of CILIP Enterprises.

Aims of the Programme Available to all graduates with a primary degree in any area of study, the Master’s programme in Information and Library Management at Dublin Business School is designed to give students a thorough overview of professional and academic developments in the information and library sector. The programme provides a recognised professional qualification to those wishing to establish careers in the rapidly expanding information and library sector in Ireland and abroad. The programme also provides those already working in the information or library sector with the opportunity to obtain a recognised professional qualification that will allow them to work at a professional grade. The Masters in Information and Library Management at Dublin Business School fulfils a need in the market place for a high quality information and library management programme which is available on a full- time and part-time basis. Work Experience A three week professional placement is available within the programme and takes place normally between semesters one and two. The placement is compulsory for participants who join the programme without relevant experience if they subsequently wish to become a Chartered Members of the Chartered Institute of Library and Information Professionals. Entry Requirements - To be considered for admission, applicants must hold a minimum Second Class Honours Degree (2.2) in a non-cognate discipline from a recognised third level institution or equivalent qualification
- An IELTS score of a minimum 6.0 or equivalent, where full-time study has been conducted in a language other than English or applicants whose first language is not English.
- Prior work experience is helpful but not essential as a professional placement is provided as part of the programme.
Careers Graduates can successfully take up professional posts in academic and public libraries. They also secure professional posts in more specialised libraries such as legal, medical, government and corporate libraries. Graduates also find employment outside of libraries in a wide range of jobs within the corporate sector as knowledge managers, information managers, records managers and computer, data and information systems professionals.
