Aims of the Programme

The online world has become an integral part of the modern business organisation, whether public or private, large or small. Internet technology and its business affordances are constantly evolving and changing. Business success depends on the social, organisational and institutional factors this technology is embedded in. The program allows students to become part of this dynamic online world. Students from a variety of backgrounds (both technical and non-technical) have an opportunity to learn and understand the business opportunities afforded in an online networked global environment. The program allows students to develop transferable skills and knowledge for further study and career development within the technology-driven business sector. The program allows development and enhancement of e-business competencies across a range of e-business activity domains such as marketing, supply chain activities, web design and content management, back-end technology development and general management. The program is practical and grounded in reality as far as possible while encouraging analytical and problem solving abilities through practice on realistic e-business problems and situations.

Key Features of the Programme

  • The curriculum has been developed in conjunction with the emerging and evolving needs of e-businesses
  • Students achieve a comprehensive grounding in the practical and technical knowledge and skills required to contribute effectively to an e-enabled business
  • Students are encouraged to develop and implement their own emerging e-business ideas in a collaborative environment facilitated by small class sizes
  • The course has a mix of technology and business with the heavier focus on business. High technical skills are not required and students from non-technical backgrounds are not disadvantaged
  • Lecturers come from a wide variety of backgrounds, both business and e-business, both technical and non-technical allowing students to benefit from their wide-ranging expertise.
