This programme aims to give a relevant and practical insight into Trading, Investing and Personal Wealth Management. The course is dynamic in nature and focuses on up to the minute developments in markets and asset management and the implications for investors.

Assessment

To be awarded the  Advanced Diploma in Investment & Capital Markets, a student will be required to complete a written assignment (100%).

Programme Content

Classes begin with a broad review of Capital Markets and topical issues followed by security specific discussion including Trading, Technical Analysis, Information and Research.
The second half of each class is dedicated to the following core subjects:

Asset allocation – Fixed Income, Bonds and Credits

Irish and International Equities

Private Equity

Property

Alternative Investments and Hedge Funds

Foreign Exchange

Commodities including Gold and Oil

Tax, Pension and Estate planning

Risk Management

Other themes include Investor Psychology and Personal Considerations, Economics and Market Research, Publications and Information, Industry Trends and practical Account and Investment management.

Structure

This course aims to give a relevant and practical insight into  trading and investing.The course is dynamic in nature and focuses on up to  the minute  developments in markets and asset management  and the implication for investors. The result is a broad, applicable and relevant understanding of investment as it pertains today. The course is delivered one evening per week over a 12 week period, continuous assessment. 

Career Progression Opportunities

This programme can benefit a wide range of students from Investors and Traders to those currently working in the Financial Services sector by giving them an understanding of the most salient issues and allowing them to effectively up-skill. It will enable students to understand the cause and effect of market movements, draw conclusions and implications for investors and to be able to interact with other investors and industry professionals in a meaningful way.

Further Study Options

For students interested in further study at Degree level, DBS offers a range of Level 8
Honours Business Evening Degree programmes.

Student Profile

Typically, students participating on the programme have included those who have completed the Diploma in Investment and Capital Markets, investors, traders, entrepreneurs and business people and those working in the Financial Services industry in Sales, Client Services and Fund Accountancy roles typically. 

Fees

The fee for this Diploma is €1,500. This is inclusive of tuition, registration, exam fees and DBS library membership. This fee must be paid in full before the course begins.  View all 2017 Professional Evening Diploma fees here.

• Online Notes System (DBS Moodle)- is an eLearning system designed to provide you with a range of course material which will enhance and support your learning experience within DBS.
• DBS Library Aungier Street- the Library provides a programme of classes in the areas of Library resources, essay writing skills, avoiding plagiarism and referencing to assist you in your studies. 
• DBS Careers and Appointment Service- which provides a range of services for Diploma students such as career advice and workshops in CV writing and interview skills.
• Subsidised Parking- DBS provides subsidised parking arrangements for students, which provides easy access to all main public transport routes in and out of the city centre.
• Subsidised Student Canteen- Diploma students can avail of the Student Canteen which is open in the evenings and offers a wide variety of choices on its menu.
