What our Students say
 | Andrea Shorthall
MA in Addiction Studies ‘My experience at DBS was an extremely positive one. The MA in Addiction Studies proved to be interesting, challenging, and informative. The course content has given me an excellent knowledge and understanding of all aspects of addiction. Another worthy point to note is how supportive the lecturers are towards the students, with a real desire to see us succeed.’ | | Cathal O’Keeffe
MA in Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy ‘This unique course has provided me with great insight into the human condition and work within the mental health system. There is no other course that will provide the specialised training that this MA in Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy affords. Along the way I have made close friends, vital contacts and I have grown personally. Armed with the knowledge and confidence that this course and subsequent training in my own personal analysis has evoked in me, I can continue to promote professional competence in psychoanalytic practice and in furthering my studies.’ | | John Kodikara Master of Business Studies ‘I had been looking to follow a part-time MBS, rather than an MBA, and after a lot of research the MBS at Dublin Business School certainly fitted the bill. Interaction with experienced business practitioners and an insightful faculty was underpinned by broad-based theory and a varied curriculum. It was challenging, yet very flexible and conducive to students who have obligations to their jobs and other extracurricular activities. Furthermore the lecturers, guest speakers and cohort are from varied sectors and professions. I enjoyed the programme tremendously despite having to juggle work, lectures and assignments. The lectures (and lecturers) gave me ideas that I could apply the next day and gave me a wider perspective in my work.’ | .jpg) | Leanne McGrath
Master of Business Studies ‘To commence studying again after time away is a difficult decision, however, when it’s study on a part-time basis it’s an even harder decision. You ask yourself so many questions such as, have I got the time, or ability to manage my time, to be able to take on such a course together with work? Will I meet people easily given that you only spend a couple of hours at lectures a week? And on and on. However, thankfully I look back and laugh at all these uncertainties, concerns and inhibitions as although the last two years have been tough going it has been worth every minute. The lecturers have been so supportive; I have met some amazing people, friends for life, and have broadened my horizons as far as my career prospects go. The MBS course has a broad syllabus, which has given me crucial skills in important areas across the financial and business sector as a whole. The course included group work and presentations, which not only helped me on a personal basis, but gave me confidence and helped me learn important lessons about working in teams and presenting that has proven invaluable in my working environment and has helped me in my career tremendously.’ | | Oludayo Adeyinka
Masters in Marketing The MA in Marketing has provided me with a great leg up in my marketing career especially with the acquired International Marketing and Strategic Marketing Analysis experience. The programme was highly practical, informative, educative and analytical. It helped me work on own initiative and to develop both presentation and time management skills. What I have learned about the various International markets and decision- making techniques has been useful in my current work as sales consultant covering UK, Ireland and South African Market.’ | | Lauren Heney
MA in Human Resource Management ‘After completing an Arts Degree in Music and Geography, I decided to commence the MA in Human Resource Management run in Dublin Business School through Liverpool John Moores University. Coming into the masters with absolutely no business or management education behind me, I was a little apprehensive. However, I started at DBS and found the lecturers extremely approachable as they started at the basic concepts, theories and case studies before progressing on to the much more complex materials. Also, the class size was small in size compared to my undergraduate university which enabled debates, class presentations and more time to hone in on any specific topics which, as a class we were having difficulties with. The course was challenging, however, the vast hands-on experience of all the lecturers through their immense volume of knowledge in each of their particular disciplines coupled with their vast business experiences meant that the course was extremely beneficial to progressing towards a career in HRM. Testament to the fact that the course was indeed worthwhile was when some of my suggestions from my thesis were taken on board by the organisation I had based my study on and which have since proven to be very successful.’ |

Postgraduate Higher Diploma in Business Studies ‘I thoroughly enjoyed studying the Higher Diploma Business Studies at DBS. The interactive classes, the group work and the presentations enabled me and my class mates to learn from one another and to develop organisational, teamwork, communication and leadership skills, which are essential skills in the working environment and these have helped my career tremendously. DBS has opened up a wide range of careerpossibilities and I am currently working as a trainee accountant.’ | THURS-004.jpg) | Dorota Medycka
Postgraduate Higher Diploma in Business Studies (HRM) Starting postgraduate studies was not an easy decision to make especially while being not a native speaker and working full time, however the time I have spent in DBS was very rewarding and definitely worth the effort. I have widely broadened my knowledge and insight into different aspects of economical, social and organisational principles, which came very useful while defining my professional career. I have changed my job since completing the course and I’m working now in the area of the Human Resource Management that was always my goal. Apart from well presented lectures and extremely helpful staff DBS was also a place where I have met people from different countries and also made long lasting friendships. In hindsight I can say now that studying in DBS was the best decision I have made as it enhanced my perspectives on the professional level and also enriched my personal life.’ | .jpg) | Clare Walsh Executive MBA “The lecturers for the Executive MBA programme bring vast knowledge and experience of not just the academic world but also that of industry. The two disciplines merge to develop your skills in critically appraising elements of the business world. Teaching tools include case studies, bringing real business scenarios to the class room. If you wish to improve your ability to understand and critically appraise any element of business from decision making to strategic management, this course is the one for you.” |
