Evening Degrees

'As a full time employee and a mother of a young daughter, it’s difficult to get the right fit with an evening degree. DBS offered me the flexibility to pursue my career, BA and lifestyle. Exemptions awarded from a previous diploma enabled me to complete my BA in just three years. I also found the subject matter interesting which kept me absorbed even after a full days work. It was challenging and definitely worthwhile.'

'I found my experience of completing a BA (Hons) Financial Services with DBS a very positive one. I felt a great camaraderie with both students and lecturers which enhanced the experience. The standard of lecturers in DBS is extremely high, with all lecturers being approachable and most if not all having had practical experience in the subjects they lecture. This experience was a key factor in making the subjects interesting, relevant and practical. What I have learned in the degree has been very beneficial for my work and having a degree will also bode well for my future career opportunities. The lectures were very practical and relevant, not just theoretical. I’m already applying the knowledge I gained from the different modules to my job in accounts. 'It is hard to believe that four years part-time study is already finished - the time flew! I chose DBS because of its central location, course content and friendly approach of the college staff. I found the course content very practical and I was able to implement it into my daily life, including designing web pages and databases for real life situations. 'As a mature part-time student and commuter, giving up nights to undertake a 4 year course was a significant investment of my time. It was also a gamble in terms of the course; as this was the first time this degree course was being offered in Ireland. I can safely say that both the investment and gamble paid off. This was due in no small part to the enthusiasm and professionalism of DBS lecturers and staff. I found the BA (Hons) Business with Psychology a very worthwhile and challenging degree. The diverse areas covered by the course provided invaluable insights into both business and psychological dynamics and their interlinkages. 'DBS provided an excellent opportunity to pursue a degree on a part time basis. I found the relaxed pace of first year, foundation level subjects gave me a chance to ease back into education as I had not studied since doing my leaving certificate. 18 years prior to commencing the degree course. It also gave me the opportunity to get a feel for preferred subjects before deciding which degree to pursue. I found all classes to be very interactive. This gives double benefit in that you get theory and debate from lecturers as well as real life experiences of people from varied areas of employment. Group projects encourage a team atmosphere - working with rather than competing against fellow students.'
