What our Students Say
 | Donna Murray
BA (Hons) Marketing with Event Management 'As a full time employee and a mother of a young daughter, it’s difficult to get the right fit with an evening degree. DBS offered me the flexibility to pursue my career, BA and lifestyle. Exemptions awarded from a previous diploma enabled me to complete my BA in just three years. I also found the subject matter interesting which kept me absorbed even after a full days work. It was challenging and definitely worthwhile.' | | Fiachra O’Neill BA (Hons) Financial Services 'I found my experience of completing a BA (Hons) Financial Services with DBS a very positive one. I felt a great camaraderie with both students and lecturers which enhanced the experience. The standard of lecturers in DBS is extremely high, with all lecturers being approachable and most if not all having had practical experience in the subjects they lecture. This experience was a key factor in making the subjects interesting, relevant and practical. What I have learned in the degree has been very beneficial for my work and having a degree will also bode well for my future career opportunities. Following an exemption from year 1, the 3 years of effort have certainly been worth it.' | | Jacques Fourie BA (Hons) Business Management (Marketing) 'When I first started the 4 year BA in Business Management (Marketing) at DBS, I really wasn’t sure what direction I wanted to pursue in my career – although I knew I wanted a change. I found that the diverse array of subjects within the degree, as well as the openness and insight from lecturers with vast experience in their fields, provided me with a clearer understanding of the direction I wanted to pursue. I found the degree both challenging and exciting, with enough flexibility to facilitate a busy work and home life. Towards the end of the degree I had a shortlist of three options of careers, and am happy to say I now work in one of them.'
| | Joe Pleass BA (Hons) Business Management (HRM) 'The prospect of returning to third level education while attempting to balance the demands of a busy work schedule and a young family can be a daunting one. The thought of exams, assignments, nights of lectures and weekends of study should be enough to put most people off but still it’s a challenge that appeals to many of us. Particularly if it’s an academic qualification that you wished you had achieved earlier in life. Many of you will be asking yourselves the BIG question: Is it worth it? The answer is yes. I know because I did it.' | | Mark Gordon
BA (Hons) Marketing 'I have thoroughly enjoyed the experience of studying at DBS as a part time student and I feel a tremendous sense of achievement in being awarded my degree. During the time I spent studying at DBS, I have learned to manage my time and achieve deadlines that I never thought possible, while balancing a career, home life and a lengthy commute. All of the lecturers were very approachable and only too willing to help, no matter how much I tested their patience! I have not only achieved a recognised business qualification, but the DBS experience has also helped me progress within my own industry, as a result of having a much deeper and richer understanding of how my customers make business decisions and why.' | | Siobhan O’Shea BA (Hons) Accounting & Finance 'I started in DBS in year 2 of the BA (Hons) Accounting and Finance degree. I chose DBS for my studies because the course times and subjects suited my needs. I adapted well to the course and gained skills and knowledge during my time. I found the lecturers very helpful with course work and exams. I graduated in 2008 and have decided to continue my studies within DBS and take full advantage of my ACCA exemptions.' | | Rachel Keegan BA (Hons) Business Management 'I was contemplating studying at night for years and finally decided to do it when a friend encouraged me and my company said they would pay for it. The BA (Hons) Business Management has really stood to me since its completion and I feel it helps me so much in my current position. The lectures were very practical and relevant, not just theoretical. I’m already applying the knowledge I gained from the different modules to my job in accounts. The lecturers were extremely helpful and approachable, the college had a great reputation, and I made some very good friends along the way. There’s no doubt that the degree course was demanding but the sense of reward was brilliant when group assignments and exams were completed and results handed back. The encouragement we got from our lecturers was also very helpful and positive.' | | Sean Brosnan BA (Hons) Business Information Systems 'It is hard to believe that four years part-time study is already finished - the time flew! I chose DBS because of its central location, course content and friendly approach of the college staff. I found the course content very practical and I was able to implement it into my daily life, including designing web pages and databases for real life situations. I found the lecturers very professional, approachable and supportive - they were always willing to help despite working long hours themselves. I am delighted I chose DBS and would highly recommend the Business Information Systems degree to those looking for a mixture of practical business and IT subjects.'

BA (Hons) Business with Psychology 'As a mature part-time student and commuter, giving up nights to undertake a 4 year course was a significant investment of my time. It was also a gamble in terms of the course; as this was the first time this degree course was being offered in Ireland. I can safely say that both the investment and gamble paid off. This was due in no small part to the enthusiasm and professionalism of DBS lecturers and staff. I found the BA (Hons) Business with Psychology a very worthwhile and challenging degree. The diverse areas covered by the course provided invaluable insights into both business and psychological dynamics and their interlinkages. The degree has definitely enhanced my knowledge base and I would recommend it and DBS to anyone wishing to advance themselves as individuals or in their careers.' | | Tim FitzGibbon
BA (Hons) Business Studies 'DBS provided an excellent opportunity to pursue a degree on a part time basis. I found the relaxed pace of first year, foundation level subjects gave me a chance to ease back into education as I had not studied since doing my leaving certificate. 18 years prior to commencing the degree course. It also gave me the opportunity to get a feel for preferred subjects before deciding which degree to pursue. I found all classes to be very interactive. This gives double benefit in that you get theory and debate from lecturers as well as real life experiences of people from varied areas of employment. Group projects encourage a team atmosphere - working with rather than competing against fellow students.' |
