This honours degree programme incorporates a balance mix of specialised marketing modules and event management geared towards the needs of marketing personal operating in a dynamic national or international environment. The programme deals comprehensively with modern marketing and event management. The course also aims to create an environment that promotes the personal and intellectual development of students and provides a platform for further study at masters or professional levels.

 

Year 1

(Common Foundation Year)
Six mandatory subjects provide foundation knowledge in core business areas and disciplines, accompanied by introduction to marketing. 

Year 2

The emphasis shifts to the marketing function with all five-core subjects focused on developing knowledge in marketing and event management specific areas.

Year 3

At final year, students develop their general business knowledge with a focus on business strategy. In parallel, their knowledge and competence in targeted areas of both marketing and event management are developed through four specialised subjects.  


Structure and Content

The core of this programme is concentrated on mandatory marketing and management subjects. Specialists marketing knowledge is developed through all three years of the programme. Level 2 and 3 of the programme both feature strong core of marketing and event management modules.

Common Foundation Year

Year one is common to most of our BA (Hons) Degree programmes. The Common Foundation Year is based on the principle that all students should have a good grounding in the basic business disciplines before proceeding to more advanced studies in whichever aspect of business they plan to concentrate.

Having a common foundation year also allows students greater flexibility. Each student can review his/her choice of degree programme prior to progression to year-two and can change to a different programme if so desired.

Career Opportunities

It is designed to prepare students for employment in a variety of marketing and event management disciplines, including customer service, product/brand management, research management, stakeholder communication, event planning, risk management and strategic management. The programme is designed to equip graduates to be able to take up positions requiring specific marketing and event management knowledge and skills such as:

  • Hospitality Management

 

Other positions include non-marketing/event management sectors where knowledge of marketing represents a significant competitive advantage includes:
Sales Management, New Business Development and Customer Relationship Management.

Teaching and Assessment

The BA (Hons) in Marketing with Event Management is taught mainly through lectures and tutorials, with students taking responsibility for a significant amount of study outside scheduled class contact times. Assessed work will consist of traditional end-year examinations plus a significant element of continuous assessment based on coursework.
