BA (Hons) Marketing with Event Management
The BA (Hons) Marketing with Event Management degree programme incorporates a balanced mix of specialised marketing and event management modules geared towards the needs of marketing personnel operating in a dynamic national or international environment. The programme deals comprehensively with modern marketing and event management theory and practice. It aims to provide students with the range of knowledge and abilities required to initiate or develop a career in marketing and event management. The course also aims to create an environment that promotes the personal and intellectual development of students and provides a platform for further study at masters or professional level within this growing sector. Aims & Objectives The programme is designed to prepare students for employment in a variety of marketing and event management disciplines, including customer service, product/brand management, research management, stakeholder communication, event planning, risk management and strategic management. Programme Structure Level 1 is a foundation level, which is common to many of the College’s undergraduate degree programmes. The foundation level provides knowledge in the primary business disciplines, as well as developing the broad cognitive skills of students. Levels 2 and 3 of the programme both feature a strong core of marketing and event management modules. This degree has been introduced further to strong demand identified in the Irish marketplace by employers and marketing bodies. Assessment Student assessment will be based on a combination of continuous assessment and end of year examinations. Continuous assessment will include essay writing, case studies, presentations, literature reviews and projects, and students will be required to work individually as well as in groups. End of year examinations are typically held in late April/early May. Level 1 subjects may also include an in-class assessment usually held in December. Programme Content This course comprises of 3 levels. Students should complete this course in 4 years part-time.
