Aims of the Programme The MBS programme provides graduates with an extensive knowledge of business practice internationally as business is conducted in the global village. Business Studies is a good generalist qualification for a broad base of knowledge in business operation. Graduates exit the programme with research skills which strengthen their position in the business world. This skill-set confers an advantage in that deep analysis of business problems and issues is undertaken and solutions developed which are grounded in the best available knowledge and fact. Carrying these skills into the workplace ensures graduates quickly progress in their chosen careers. Programme Structure The programme is structured in two sequential stages. Stage 1 contains eight core modules and the Masters stage (Stage 2) comprises the dissertation. If four modules are completed a certificate award can be granted and if eight modules are obtained a diploma award can be granted. For part-time students, delivery of the programme is structured over four semesters with two modules in each semester. During each semester, students are normally required to attend lectures on two evenings per week and occasional weekend workshops Assessment Methods Students are assessed via a wide range of methods in order to ensure the development of an extensive range of abilities and skills over the duration of the programme. These methods include management reports, case studies, individual and group coursework, presentations, time constrained assessments, development of business plans based on case studies, production of a personal development portfolio and a dissertation. Entry Requirements To be considered for admission, applicants must hold: - A minimum Second Class Honours (2.2) in a business degree or in a cognate discipline from a recognised third level institution, or
- A minimum Second Class Honours (2.2) in a non-business discipline with a minimum of three years relevant experience in a business environment
- An IELTS score of a minimum 6.0 or equivalent, where full-time study has been conducted in a language other than English or applicants whose first language is not English.
