Our past DipFM students’ success is evidence of the partnership between excellence and learning that has grown and flourished at Dublin Business School (DBS) for the last 35 years. DBS is the largest independent third level education institute in Ireland with an excess of 9,000 students per annum studying a wide and varied range of curricula. However, our roots are firmly based in preparing students for the rigorous demands of professional examinations.

DBS has established an enviable reputation for the quality of its Diploma in Financial Management courses and overall student success. The award of the 'ACCA Platinum approved Learning Partner' Status helps verify our “Excellence through learning” reputation. This award provides independent assurance that DBS meets the standards set down by ACCA for the delivery of outcome focused courses preparing our students for the professional examinations.

Over the last number of years, DBS students achieved over 720 prizewinners at national and international level. Our prizewinners are a bonus and we are proud to help celebrate their “excellence through learning”.  However, all our students are important to us and we strive to ensure that as many as possible achieve that “magic 50%” pass rate in their examinations.

As a subsidiary of Kaplan Inc, the educational division of The Washington Post, DBS has engaged in an ongoing programme of developing and enhancing the facilities we provide as part of the learning experience. DBS’s lecture rooms provide you with a relaxed, informal study environment equipped with tools necessary to deliver a product that appeals to individual learning styles, whilst promoting active learning. The entire second floor of our main City Centre campus building is exclusively dedicated to library and electronic learning resources to augment the traditional classroom delivery. These are all essential ingredients in achieving “Excellence through learning” in DipFM examinations.

We also provide study rooms, canteen, subsidised parking facilities and a dedicated administrative support team to ensure the whole process runs smoothly. We consistently remind ourselves that whilst you are primarily our students, you are also our customers. Therefore, we try to make the achievement of “excellence through learning” in the DipFM examinations as user-friendly as possible for each and every one of you.

If you would like to know more please contact the DipFM Course Team or myself for further information.

Programme Structure

The Diploma programme has a modular design for convenience of study and to enable you to progress smoothly from basic principles to more strategic issues. Each module covers two subject areas:

MODULE A

PAPER 1: Interpretation of Financial Statements

 PAPER 2: Performance Management

MODULE B

PAPER 3: Financial Strategy

PAPER 4: Risk Management

Lectures are held one night per week, Module A and Module B are delivered on alternate weeks. Each module will be assessed by a three hour examination and a project.

The examination for each module will cover the two subject areas in that module (for example, the Module A examination will have questions for the Interpretation of Financial Statements subject area and the Performance Management subject area). Students must submit a project for each module. Each project consists of two assignments, one for each subject area in the module. Details on the assignments will be sent to students by ACCA twice yearly in February and August.
